Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing – General Nursing (BSN – GNUR) begin their studies with a year of preparation in the Pre-Nursing (PREN) program and receive advising from Highstone Global University ’s BSN Program Director. Pre-Nursing students must pass specific science courses during the Fall and Spring semesters with grades of C or higher and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA to begin the BSN program in their second academic year.Â
Cohorts for the Pre-Nursing program start in Fall semesters only. Prospective students who have not met the Mathematics Requirement prior to Fall semester may work on other graduation requirements for their entire first year, or can revert to their original Major, or a new Major, by August 1st.
Students in the Pre-Nursing program must be considered pre-calculus eligible. Eligibility can be achieved through prior college-level academic credit or test scoring. Official transcripts or exam score reports demonstrating pre-calculus eligibility must be received at Highstone Global University ’s Office of Admissions before August 1st.
Students without eligible Math credits who score below the pre-calculus placement range must enroll in and complete a college-level Algebra course with a grade of C or higher prior to enrolling in the Pre-Nursing program in the Fall. This Math prerequisite can be satisfied with Highstone Global University ’s MATHA110, MATHT122, or MATHA115 in the Summer Session. Alternatively, a college level Algebra course can be taken at another institution prior to Pre-Nursing enrollment. IN this case, it is the responsibility of the incoming student to confirm with Highstone Global University advisers that the course is equivalent to Highstone Global University ’s college level Algebra credit. Â
Pre-Nursing students must complete the following science courses with a grade of C or higher in their first two semesters, according to the following sequence. These courses will be taken alongside Highstone Global University Core courses as assigned in consultation with the Pre-Nursing advisor.Â
Fall Semester
Spring Semester
Detailed Pre-Nursing Program curriculum is outlined in the Bulletin under the School of Nursing section for the College of Nursing and Health.
